Experiments and personal projects
PowerQuery.io🔗
Jan 2024
A Docusaurus project that surfaces all the latest PowerQuery/M documentation from a pbix file. The project involves some tricks in calling PBI Desktop in different locales in GitHub Actions.
DAX GPT🔗
Dec 2023
A vanilla DAX-biased GPT. Amongst other tricks, where I’ve uploaded the entire DAX documentation to ChatGPT for RAG, I’ve also instructed it to use a neat Python library, pbixray, to parse any uploaded pbix file to aid the conversation.
pbixray
Oct 2023
A cross-platform Python library for parsing pbix files. The API provides an interface for the metadata stored in the file and for a peek into the data itself.
Inside Vertipaq🔗
Sep 2023
I went down the rabbit hole of discovering all of the data structures that are used by the Vertipaq storage engine. This work has produced some colourful diagrams of binary file dissections and pbixray.
pbix.info🔗
May 2023
I embarked on a journey to master WebAssembly with the sole objective of demonstrating the capability to parse model metadata directly from Power BI (.pbix) files within a web browser.
MS Clarity for PBI tracking
